About Us

Derek Gerry, President and Founder of Inspection Views has worked in industrial power for 15 years.  He has experience working with low, medium and high voltage equipment and has seen many and varied problems stemming from equipment failures.  He started Inspection Views, to aid in locating hidden issues before they become an expensive, time consuming problem.

Derek is an instrument rated private and commercial remote pilot and has been flying since he was 16 years old.  Derek has flown and built flying models since he was a little boy.

About myself:

Ever since I was a little boy I have been interested in flying machines. I used to dream of flying while my dad was driving the car as things were speeding past.

While I was in the United States Air Force in 1975, stationed in Montana, I studied and obtained an FAA Private Pilot license. What a thrill! Flying compares to nothing else on earth for me!

In 2005, I attended the Aviation school at Vincennes University and obtained an Instrument Airplane Rating which changed flying in a dramatic way! I was enabled to plan a flying trip with the expectation to be able to get there even if the weather wasn’t clear.

I remember my Dad building a model airplane for us and when it was done we flew it together. That was so much fun and exciting for us kids! He guided us on how to build our own airplanes and how to make them fly. I’ve built many airplanes throughout my life time.

I am still enjoying flying model aircraft. The main difference is the size (and price!) of the planes I am flying. I’ve recently moved up to Giant scaled Gasoline powered engine aircraft instead of the much more expensive and growing scarce, glow plug fuel powered ones. I am an AMA member and fly with other model pilots at our local club. I try to pass my passion down to younger generations, explaining things to them and letting them fly some of my trainer planes on a Buddy Box.

When the FAA finalized the part 107 rule for UAS (small unmanned aerial systems) in the fall of 2016, I started putting things together. One day at work a drone pilot was hired to fly for the company. I went along with him to watch and started to dream. Now that dream has become a reality!

In January of 2017, I studied for and obtained from the FAA, a commercial UAS (Drone) license and began the steps to form a business.

That business is now up and running!

Is there a way I can help you?

Call me, let’s talk.

Derek Gerry
